Itinerary


Day 1 Fly to Bucharest and visit

Fly to Bucharest and pick up to the hotel by special car. Visit the private residence of former leader Ceausescu and learn about the influence of communism on Romania. Take an afternoon stroll through the Folklore Open Air Museum, which consists of 300 traditional buildings including dwellings, barns and churches.

Day 2 Tour of Perez Castle

In the morning, visit Peres Castle, one of the most gorgeous castles in Europe, located in the Carpathian mountains. Explore the ancient monastery built in the 17 th century on foot, and have lunch inside the castle. In the middle of the afternoon, stay at a private farm on the top of the mountain, feel Romanian rural life, and enjoy farm cuisine in the evening.

Day 3 Dracula Castle, Brasov
In the morning, I visited Dracula Castle, which was originally built by the King of Hungary. At the end of 19 th century, Irish writer Stoke wrote the novel Dracula the Vampire, which was inspired by it. In the afternoon, travel to Brasov, surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, with its Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance style architecture preserved. If time permits, the guide will take you up the medieval city walls overlooking the Brasov Valley.

Day 4 Transylvania Country

Enter the Transylvanian countryside, where Saxons, Romanians and Gypsies live. Visit village houses and walk into workshops to learn about traditional craftsmen’s crafts. Weather permitting, we will enjoy lunch in the yard of the Saxon family. In the afternoon, walk in the countryside and hills. If you are curious about the life of the local people, you can sit on the meadow and chat with the farmers under the guide’s translation.

Day 5 Transylvania countryside
First, hike or bike (either of the two) through the forest to another Saxon village and visit the beekeeper’s farm. He will introduce the mysteries of beekeeping and you will also try natural honey in a variety of flavors for yourself. After that, go to Sigishoara, where there are a few medieval castles that are still inhabited, and have lunch here. Stay tonight in a private villa built in the 17 th century.

Day 6 Transylvania Country

Take a leisurely holiday in the morning and visit a local family for lunch at noon. In the afternoon, visit the only artisan in the area who makes carpets and tablecloths by hand. Tonight, I stayed in the hidden valley, a Saxon village that has existed for hundreds of years. On the basis of retaining the original wooden structure, the house has become more comfortable after modernization. Enjoy three-course home cooking in the barn in the evening.

Day 7 Transylvania Country

Morning horseback exploring the countryside (2 hours, no horseback experience required) In the afternoon come to Gypsy families and learn about their culture and lifestyle. Because Gypsy villagers have been driven out of the mainstream society for a long time, they are still sensitive to foreigners and still retain traditional folk customs strongly rooted in their own people. Return to the lodge before sunset and take a walk among the fields to enjoy the sunset.

Day 8 Travel to Sibiu and tour

Head to Sibiu, home to the Roman Catholic Church and the Brukenthal Palace, which houses the country’s most important art treasures. In the afternoon, visit the Astra Folk Open Air Museum, which contains a large number of traditional Romanian architecture, and often holds traditional fairs, folk celebrations and religious ceremonies. Finally, stay in a private villa in Baroque style.
